Sports Officials Alliance Foundation

The Sports Officials Alliance Foundation (SOAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is focused on providing officiating support for sports officials. Officials play a crucial role in the success of youth athletic programs. There is already a shortage of officials. We need to do more to ensure that we have officials in the pipeline to support our high school athletic contests. Our goal is to help address that issue.

We are not affiliated with any state high school association or club sports group. We are a group of dedicated, veteran sports officials focused on recruiting new officials and providing opportunities for all officials to grow and learn, so they can be successful and have a rewarding experience that helps them stay in the officiating avocation. We work games at the college, high school, middle school, and club levels. We assign games for amateur and other leagues at other times during the year. We can use all these officiating opportunities to build a stronger pipeline of officials and promote consistency across all levels.

The goals of the SOAF are to:

● Build a support community for officials to create a talent pipeline, which will help increase the recruiting and retention of high school sports officials

● Build training programs that help elevate the level of officiating

● Recognize those who are officiating at a high level as encouragement for others to strive to officiate atthe same level

 

We are currently seeking businesses or individuals to support our cause. Funds will be used for the following initiatives:

● Provide mentorship support to new officials from the youth to the high school level

● Provide equipment to new officials for use/rent when they start officiating to minimize their initial costs.  In football, a new official’s uniform and equipment can cost more than $200 to be fully equipped

● Provide scholarship funds to pay for officials’ costs to go to training camps

● Hosting a yearly recognition event at the state high school championships
